History

Since July 2005, West Canada Films (WCF) has been producing high definition video and photography for major media (CTV, CBC, Global, The Globe and Mail), for national clients (Ministry of Transportation) and for businesses and residents in Golden and the Columbia Valley.

WCF has experience shooting and editing everything from a one minute news coverage piece to a thirty minute event documentary to a five minute ski movie.

Team

Originally from Montréal, owner Simon D'amours has many years of experience in Western Canada's tourism industry. Within the region he has worked as a travel agent, ski guide, hiking guide, tour guide, film producer, cameraman, photographer and journalist. Simon completed a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration at UQAM in Montreal, specialising in International Marketing and also took Video Production from Concordia University.

Simon has been filming for ten years with a wide range of experiences. This has included helping to create sports videos such as snowboard and ski videos and as a cameraman for music events.

Since September 2007, Jahanzaib Mirza has played a major role in video editing and music production for West Canada Films' latest projects. With a solid background in music, film, photography, visual arts and graphic design as well as an avid outdoor enthusiast, Jahanzaib rounds out what West Canada Films can offer: THE RIGHT KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE.

Having lived in Western Canada for a decade, Simon and Jahanzaib are both passionate alpine ski and snowboarders, cross-country skiers, cross-country and downhill bikers, hikers, climbers, winter and summer campers. Both have a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Columbia Valley backcountry.

With an ability to plan, organize and execute the field work, West Canada Films is dedicated to its clients to help deliver quality production, embedded with the vision of the client. Office

West Canada Films is situated 7 km south of Golden, BC, in a functional environment equipped with video editing and sound studio.

West Canada Film also owns a 4-season mobile studio out of a 1993 Blue Bird School Bus equipped with two office spaces, satellite Internet, a kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom that is used for overnight or long term shooting.
